Our Story
If I haven’t met you yet my name is Caroline. I grew up in Marshallberg NC and am the great-granddaughter, granddaughter, and daughter of commercial fishermen. I spent so much of my childhood on the water, watching my dad and grandfather work to provide for us and keep a way of life alive that has been passed down for generations. I’ve also watched our community fight time and time again to protect not only our livelihoods, but our heritage, culture, and identity.
The fight against House Bill 442 was no different. Like many others I felt angry and I felt helpless at the thought of something that means so much to so many being taken away by outsiders who don’t understand. I worried about what the future might hold for our little fishing communities. When the bill was defeated, I watched my dad shed tears of relief—I’ve only seen him shed a tear a few times in my life. That moment didn’t leave me, and I started wondering what more I could do. I may not be able to change the world overnight, but I can do something as my small part.
With freelance art as my side gig, I decided to combine two things I care deeply about: creativity and our coastal fishing heritage. That’s where Core Sound Supply Co. began.
This brand was created to celebrate the people who make their living on the water, bring awareness to the challenges our fishing communities face, and help keep our traditions alive for future generations. My hope is that through these designs we can start conversations, educate others about our way of life, and support the communities that have given us so much.
To start out, a portion of every sale will be donated to organizations that support and advocate for North Carolina's commercial fishing communities. Throughout the year, we will partner with individuals and businesses that help shape coastal North Carolina—from fishermen and fishing families to artists, boatbuilders, and seafood businesses—to create designs inspired by their stories, traditions, and work. Each collaborator will receive a percentage of the profits from their collection.

This is only the beginning. I have big dreams for Core Sound Supply Co. and hope to continue highlighting the fishermen, families, and traditions that make coastal North Carolina so special.
We're always looking for opportunities to collaborate with commercial fishermen, fishing families, boatbuilders, seafood businesses, artists, and others who share a passion for preserving our coastal heritage. If you have a story to tell, a boat with history behind it, or an idea for a future collaboration, I'd love to hear from you.
